Music from the 50's and 60's?

Ok well im doing a oral presentation on Rock and roll and how it transformed from pop into rock. In the early 50's pop was popular with the adults. During the mid 50's is when Bill haley released his hit single 'Rock Around the Clock' which started the rock sensations with teenagers....

My question is can anyone help list The most famous pop singers and most famous Rock singers in the 50's and 60's?

Im planning on doing a mix that has Pop music transforming to Rock music. So if you could list them in order that would sound nice fading one song into another it would be much appreciated.

thank you

There are way too many to be listed here, you really have to research this for yourself.

Imagine all the artist that were popular for one year, or ten years... yet alone going out to a twenty year period of music history. You probably have to be selective and again, you'll have to select those that serve your purpose for your paper.

But of the 50's in rock Elvis was the King, in the 60's the Beatles ran the show, even though they we both in high demand ....

Just like it is today, many are in favor at any given moment...

Shows like American Bandstand emerged to fill the need for the teenagers desire to hear Rock N Roll.....

FM stations popped up to fill this need as well, not to mention since the FM radio was installed in the car it was the logical step forward, furthermore, this caused a new industry to be born .. the Drive Through Fast Food Restaurant....car + radio meant teenagers were staying in their cars longer, living in those cars, and eatting from those cars. The True land of convienence.....all based around Rock N Roll......

The face of the world changed, though in 1959 when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper were killed in a plane crash... That was the fatefull day that the music died for many. The music world came back but never the same as it was, rock N roll was truly gone, giving way for new groups to emerge...and the Beatles took center stage.

But the Doors and the stones were there all the way.... just like Elvis ( Rockabilly) musical fixtures....
