I think that's just your opinion. A LOT of normal people own Apple products not because it's fashionable or it can be flashy and a topic of conversation at places. People genuinely LIKE their products because of what it offers THEM as consumers. If you want a device that plays your music, works as a GPS, can be a phone, checks your emails, lets you IM people, let's you read books, etc...you can get an iPhone. Also, they're not THAT ridiculous when you get a plan for it with a cell phone carrier. Also, people LIKE the simplicity of having something that's generally virus free (except a few here and there every few years) and is easy to use and has great customer support. It's not about being rich and flashy. There's clearly a market for it, and the market isn't just filled with rich people. Lots of people save up money to purchase Apple products, so please stop generalizing and saying that it was made for rich people to show off.
Btw, I'm not even an Apple lover! The only Apple product I own is the iPod and for the money I paid, it's well worth it. I love Sony and was considering their mp3 player, but it was more expensive and for less storage than the iPod.
