I-80 Through Truckee?
I am heading home from Idaho to California in April. I would like to know how the road conditions are through Donner Summit around the first week of April. I've got a small four door car without chains, what do you think?

You should be alright, but you never know about the weather. You have some options to check the pass while on the road – Nevada’s 511 telephone service (available from any landline or mobile phone) gives chain information for I-80 in California when they are needed and you can check the Nevada and California road conditions websites at the links below (the 3rd link is one that will work on your mobile device). You can also call 1-800.427.7623 for current California highway conditions.
Good luck and safe travels!Source(s): http://www.safetravelusa.com/nv/text.pl?file=contr... http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roadscell.cgi

You should be OK then, but anything is possible at that altitude. Check the weather forecasts as you pass through Reno/Sparks, and look at the trucks going the other way. Are they dripping water or ice? A clue.

You should be alright in the month of April.
