Can my 5 Year Old use an CGM (continuous glucose monitor) with an OmniPod from Insulet?

It was recommended to get a DexCom or Navigator, but see that they are not approved by FDA for under 18?

What about the MiniMed CGMs?

Looking for some advice from those with exerperienc of both a CGM and OmniPod under the age of 7.

Thanks!

I have heard of plenty of children wearing a cgm.

A good spot to connect with other parents of type 1 kids would be Tudiabetes.org, specifically the here, http://www.tudiabetes.org/group/parentsofkidswitht...

In addition, Insulet and Dexcom announced recently that they were looking into integrating their systems, so the omnipod pdm would work with the dexcom transmitter.

Even if the FDA hasn't approved cgm use for kids under 18, the only thing keeping you from getting your child a cgm would be your insurance company as long as your endo writes a prescription for a cgm.
