"Lebron had two other All-Stars. Dirk had zero. He was also without his second best player (Caron Butler) for nearly the whole season, and a key bench player (Brendan Haywood) duing the Finals, yet he's the one with the ring." Well...to be fair, Dirk had Jason Terry, who hasn't been an official all-star but is certainly all-star caliber, Shawn Marion, who is a 4 time all star, Peja Stojakavic who sucks but is a multiple all-star as well, and the legendary Jason Kidd who is a 8 Time all star, 2 Time gold medalist, 3 time FIFA basketball Gold Medal Winner etc. etc. He also had many other players who are all solid. (Tyson Chandler, J.J Barea etc.) Miami had 3 phenomenal players and not much else but Haslem and Chalmers. Dirk has always needed others to propel him to championship level. Even the team in 06 was deeper than the current Heat. Is Lebron built mentally for the big moments? No. But he's still head and shoulders better as an all around player than Dirk Nowitzki. To further answer the question...Yes Dirk Nowitzki is definitely overrated. He doesn't play both sides of the floor. Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett (to name a few) have been better their entire careers. Kevin Garnett may not be better offensively but he has all the same accolades as Nowitski and has defensive player of the year trophies. No one fears Dirk's presence on the defensive end and he is a 7 foot forward! Dirk doesn't improve the play of people around him as much as other NBA superstars. People forget that Dirk's accomplishments were all individual awards until the Championship. He's one of the best shooters ever, but him beating Lebron and D-Rose (who won the MVP!!!!) is a true testament to how strong the hate against Miami and Lebron was this season.
