Most newer TVs have a VGA port on them; in which case all you need is a typical VGA cable.

However, you may not have a VGA port; in which case you need an adapter.

    vga cable - http://www.buy.com/prod/ptc-15ft-premium-vga-svga-...

    adapter - http://www.buy.com/prod/ptc-vga-to-s-video-rca-com...

*with this adapter you need a typical (yellow ended) rca cable

if your laptop had HDMI out then just hook up the HDMI from the back of your tv straight into your laptop. otherwise, you will need a VGA to HDMI cable and use your laptops VGA out
