Ditto on TV Guy's response. There is NO liquid involve. All it is, is the polarization of two materials in opposite directions to prevent light from getting through. The light would be the background light found in LCD TV's. The amount of light getting through determines the shade of light to dark that is produced. Look it up at Wikipedia.
