People worry about other people's approval to be "in" "hip" or "fitting in" because of insecurities.
Also out of insecurities, people join others to ridicule people who get their hair dyed or ridicule people who have the guts to be unique. Sorry, but if people such as Punk Rockers with Mohawks for example don't want to be trendy like others, that's people being secure about themselves and they're not seeking attention either, because why would they be seeking trendy people's attention when they don't even care about the trendy people's opinions? That just doesn't make sense.
Also for approval of others - people who change their opinions at least in public, to fit in with others because they worry about being accepted - such as people who cave in and say they believe in evolution so they won't be thought of as "politically incorrect" by others or such as people who cave in to wealthy people's, insurance companies' and giant pharmaceutical companies'/giant hospital chains' interests about stopping health care reform because they want to be accepted by the crowd who's allowed themselves to have been brainwashed by the aristocrat propaganda against the working classes or the same goes for people who cave in to aristocrats' interests when it comes to stopping people who want to stop global warming.
What the hey, I'll throw one more in - how about people who are narcissistic and want to care only about themselves and not care anything about people who are suffering in the world too? Good examples of this are people being this way even in their own city - a prime example of that would be say when people say - "oh those bad things happening in another part of town has nothing to do with me", but watch - when those bad things that happen in other parts of town, starts happening in their neighborhood people then are soooo suprised and say "what's the world coming to?" Well those bad things that happen already were happening, a lot of people just didn't care till it affected them too.
