Why does Obama say the deficit is a top priority and then introduce the biggest budget deficit ever in history?

When he said the deficit would be a priority, did he mean he'd make it a priority to bankrupt us? Serious answers only. I really want to know how he can be taken seriously when he says stuff like this. I just don't get it. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

Deficit is top priority:

Deficit spending is America's credit card.

Now a credit card CAN help a broke contractor complete a JOB & thus make money.

But Obama is like one of those silly sitcom wives who thinks STIMULATING the economy is the same as maxing out her HUSBAND'S credit cards.

It's not that he doesn't care about the deficit….

He just truly does not grasp that credit stimulates ONLY if the recipient is doing something PROFITABLE.

Furthermore as a Socialist, Obama sees the pursuit of profit as GREED,

Rather than a natural INCENTIVE to create JOBS.

The SUCCESSFUL pursuit of profit makes you an EXPLOITER whose profit should be striped & returned to the folks you've oppressed.

And when businessmen refuse to create jobs because Obama is taking all the profits, Obama thinks THEY have an attitude problem.

Beatings will continue until Moral improves.

It's BLAZINGLY apparent from the outside. But inside that paranoid Socialist cocoon, each new downturn is greeted with the certainty that BUSH must have screwed things up worse than they thought.

The problem can NEVER be STUPID SPENDING, only that you haven't spent ENOUGH.

Obama means well, but fiscally speaking he's a Gorilla who's been taught to drive by morons & thinks the brake is the accelerator.

So as each new policy slows the economy further…

Does the light go on in his little head?

Or will he start pounding the dashboard and hit the brakes even harder.

    My money's on the pounding….

    ….and JFTR so is yours.

these ppl unnerve me! HELLO? THERE WAS NO SURPLUS! they have not a clue what a 'surplus' even is and certainly no clue what was included in clinton's 10 year plan - following his departure from office - that allowed him to arrive at a 'surplus.' crazies, all of them! they actually believe Bush's office was stacked with money the moment he walked in. I suppose the difference comes from the fact that Obama paints a pie in the sky picture for the gullible and starry-eyed tell-me-another to utopinize over. (hey, i just made up a word.)

The problem is that the Bush administration had two budget records... Like having to separate balance sheets... or two separate checking registers... The Bush administration left all the "war" spending off the public budget... but the Obama administration was hit with the real budget after he took office. Not to mention the Bush administration was well aware of the accounting tricks that banks, insurance and investing companies were making, but did nothing about it.

There are more problems with the budget than what the Bush administration created however. Import tariffs are at an all-time low for the history of the US... trade laws with foreign countries has crippled American industry and manufacturing. Why is it that we are allowed to import from countries that don't allow us to export goods to their country?

It is not just one presidency that has gotten us to where we are... it is the corporations of the world that created this world recession by pulling the strings of every President for the past 5 decades; at least.

I wouldn't be as concerned with the deficit as I would be with the ability of corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money to run campaign adds for or against public candidates... and this included corporations funded, owned or tied to foreign interests... Thanks to the Supreme Court.

He's like Kennedy, hopefully. The first year or so sucked. However, for Kennedy, came the Cuban Missile Crisis, then he shined. Maybe Obama will follow with any luck. His spending is off the charts, thats not debatable. I agree, with the others, he spends much more than he needs to spend.

Since when has what Obama said had anything to do with what he did?

Obama says what people want to hear - then goes and pursues his agenda anyway.

He is now surpassed all other President's spending COMBINED. He is spending like a teenager with their parent's credit card. And we are only 1.5 years into his term.

Because to get the economy moving we need jobs. To get jobs we need to spend money.

Bush spent it like a drunken sailor, now Obama has to pay it back.

BTW...You forgot to remind us that President Obama is black.
