Another naming task of epic proportions awaits you...will you accept?

This is NOT a game, just a way to see which of my favorite names people like and get suggestions. So I will be quite miffed if this gets deleted.

A warning: this is a obnoxiously long question. Just saying.

PART ONE:

Pick six names, three from the boys and three from the girls, to eliminate and then add three names to each that you think I'd like. An explanation would be nice but not required. Capish?

Girls...

Lila

Sadie

Ruby

Audrey

Lucy

Violet

Fiona

Jane

Nora

Boys...

Jasper

Leo

Henry

Maxwell

Oliver

Felix

Asher

Emmett

Dexter

Roscoe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PART TWO:
Put the names from the lists above into at least four sib sets with three names in each one. The number of girls and boys doesn't have to be equal--there can be two boys and one girl in one, or vice versa, or even all boys or all girls. You don't have to use all the names, and can reuse them in different sets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PART THREE:

1. What is your favorite name, for a boy and a girl, from my lists?

2. What one name from my lists do you absolutely hate, and why?

3. How would you describe my naming style?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PART FOUR:
List boy and girl names that you think fit with my style. Do as few or many as you wish.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PART FIVE:

1. What are your favorite names?

2. How would you describe your naming style?

3. What users in YA have the best styles?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many thanks for completing this obscenely annoying questionnaire.
    PART ONE:
    GIRLS:
    ELIMINATE: Sadie, Fiona and Nora.
    Sadie -- it's cute but feels very nickname-ish to me. Also that song "Sadie Sadie Married Lady" seems odd to relate to a little girl.
    Fiona -- An ogre in Shrek is my first thought. Other than that, it just feels.... not pretty.
    Nora -- Again, nickname-ish. I like this to be a nickname for Eleanor or Elanora.
    ADD: Matilda, Eloise and Charlotte.
    All of these three names are cute, feminine and match well with your naming style in my opinion.
    BOYS:
    ELIMINATE: Emmett, Roscoe and Dexter.
    Emmett -- Too twilight at the moment. It will soon be seen as trendy, which isn't great.
    Roscoe -- This seems much to last name for my tastes... it's a bit odd.
    Dexter -- A murderous cop comes to mind. Is that a great thing for your child?
    ADD: Jonah, Jack and Zachary.
    All of these names are strong, masculine but still interesting in my opinion.
    ** Just had to say how much I love both Oliver and Henry
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~…

    PART TWO:

    Lila, Audrey and Oliver.

    Sadie, Nora and Leo.

    Asher, Emmett and Felix.

    Lucy, Violet and Oliver.

    Jane, Henry and Asher.

    Maxwell, Jasper and Henry.

    Jane, Audrey and Violet.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~…
    PART THREE:
    1. What is your favorite name, for a boy and a girl, from my lists?
    BOY: Oliver.
    It's such a strong, masculine name but also has a quiet sensitivity and sophistication to it which I adore. It also has great nickname potential (Ollie) and ages particularly well in my opinion.
    GIRL: Violet
    Classic but a slight quirk on more traditional flower names such as Rose or Lily. Feminine but strong and absolutely beautiful.
    2. What one name from my lists do you absolutely hate, and why?
    BOY: Roscoe
    It's so last name! I can't picture this on a child at all
    GIRL: Fiona
    It's the Shrek image that's getting to me.
    3. How would you describe my naming style?
    Mostly classic and traditional, no yoo-neek spellings (thank goodness!) but with a slightly quirky twist that is unique and gorgeous.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~…

    PART FOUR:

    BOYS:

    Sebastian

    Nathaniel

    Elias

    Elliott

    Jonah

    Jack

    Harrison

    Levi

    Charlie / Charles

    Deacon

    Declan

    Liam

    Isaac

    Zachary

    Jeremiah

    Owen

    Oscar

    Hugo

    August

    Edward

    Theodore

    GIRLS:

    Penelope

    Matilda

    Charlotte

    Eloise

    Seraphina

    Vivienne

    Elizabeth / Eliza

    Amelia

    Adrianna

    Genevieve

    Scarlett

    Viola

    Arabella

    Isabelle

    Annabel

    Estella / Stella

    Adelaide

    Cecelia

    Beatrice

    Leah

    Hannah

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~…
    PART FIVE:
    1. What are your favorite names?
    BOY: Oliver William, Xavier Robert and Henry Theodore.
    GIRL: Matilda Violet, Madeleine Flora and Charlotte Holly.
    2. How would you describe your naming style?
    Mostly traditional and classic with a hint of flair and sass. No trendy spellings or trendy names, just beautiful, feminine names for girls and strong masculine names for boys - no unisex.
    3. What users in YA have the best styles?
    -- Breakfast at [Silvers] has some really unique and awesome name favourites. I love a lot of her combinations although I probably wouldn't be brave enough to use them.
    -- Hannah (<3's Kipper Kangaroo) has very similar style to myself which I love.
    -- MW&M has great classic taste and I often rethink a name if she gives me advice against it.
    -- Kaylee Lynn has beautiful classic taste as well, I love her combos.
    Lots of fun!
  • Ok! I'll give it a try! :)
    1)
    Girls:
    I'd take out Sadie, Lucy and Fiona.
    Sadie- This has always sounded like a nickname to me and I've never really been a fan of it!
    Lucy- I don't think it would age particularly well!
    Fiona- I really love Fiona but I didn't like it quite as much as your other names.
    Boys:
    Hmm...This is tough!
    I'd take out Dexter, Roscoe and Felix.
    Dexter- I've never really seen the appeal of this name for some reason. I'm not a fan.
    Roscoe- I like this. i have it on my list but I would never consider it as more than a middle name. If that.
    Felix- Again, this isn't bad but its not the nicest name.
    Names i'd put in:
    Girls:
    Lucia, Charlotte, Caitlin
    Boys:
    James, Samuel, Matthew
    2) I hope I understood this correctly!
    Nora, Audrey and Emmett
    Leo, Ruby and Henry
    Jasper, Audrey and Jane
    Lila, Ruby, Oliver and Henry
    Nora, Violet, Emmett and Leo
    Felix, Asher, Lucy and Dexter
    Audrey, Violet, Maxwell and Henry
    3)
    Audrey for a girl and Henry for a boy! I think they are both fantastic names. They are both traditional but not dated and i think that they would age extremely well.
    Lucy and Dexter- I've explained above.
    I think you like traditional names. They are names that aren't too out there and they are names that most people would have heard of.
    4)
    Girls:
    Charlotte
    Lucia
    Lydia
    Pearl
    Arabella
    Helena
    Elena
    Rosalie
    Annabelle
    Viola
    Caitlin
    Catherine
    Amelia
    Cordelia
    Juliet
    Boys:
    Evan
    Ethan
    Adam
    Noah
    Benjamin
    Sebastian
    Peter
    Samuel
    Matthew
    Geoffrey
    Gabriel
    Nathaniel
    Alexander
    James
    Callum
    5)
    Girls:
    Annabelle Winter
    Rosalie Esther
    Seraphina Claire
    Charlotte Belle
    Dahlia Vivienne
    Isobel Rose
    Luna Josephine
    Alessia Seraphine
    Boys:
    Sebastian James
    Nathaniel Lucas
    Joshua Bennett
    Noah Samuel
    Zachary Josiah
    Ellis Gabriel
    I like mostly traditonal names but there are some "interesting" ones that pop up in my favourites!
    Breakfast at Silver's, Char, Juliet, Jess, Astra Lux. Livi Lu, edfh_ak
  • 1 decade ago
    Part One -
    I would eliminate Lucy, Jane and Sadie. They're nice names, but they're a bit dated. From the boys I would eliminate Jasper and Emmett, as the whole Twilight thing puts me off (although that may not have been your reason for liking them) I'd also eliminate Roscoe, as it puts me in mind of this awful comedy film I watched once. (Can't remember full title of it though)
    I would add Archer, Caleb, Theodore, Evangeline, Harriet and Matilda.
    Part Two -
    Set 1 - Oliver, Felix and Lila.
    Set 2 - Dexter, Felix, Nora and Ruby.
    Set 3- Henry, & Fiona
    Set 4 - Leo, Lucy and Asher.
    Part Three -
    1. Oliver and Nora.
    2. Asher. I just think it's slightly pretentious, and although it isn't, it sounds slightly made up.
    3. Pretty old school and classic, but with a modern day twist.
    Part Four -
    Sawyer (for either gender, although it's pretty masculine), Savannah for a girl and Evan for a boy.
    Part Five -
    1. My favourite names are Gwyneth, Evan, Evangeline, Caitlyn, Aurora, Avery, Harper, Rowan. For a multitude of reasons. I like Gwyneth and Evan because I am a quarter Welsh. Evan is also my brother's name though, so I wouldn't use it. I like quite androgynous names, that would suit either gender like Harper and Rowan. The rest I just think are cute.
    2. I'd describe it as a mix of a few styles, like unisex names, classic names and modern ones too. It's a bit of everything really.
    3. I really like Breakfast At {Silver's} naming style, I think it's really unique and lovely. And of course, you can't go wrong with Emmy-Jo's names too.
    Eliminate:
    Lucy, Sadie and Ruby. They all sound quite childish.
    Asher, Felix, Roscoe. They're just not my style.
    Add:
    Genevieve
    Vivian
    Eleanor
    Joseph
    Adam
    Alexander
    Violet Jane
    Audrey Lila
    Jasper Felix
    Sadie Fiona
    Oliver Emmett
    Henry Maxwell
    Ruby Violet
    Lucy Jane
    Nora Sadie
    Asher Maxwell
    Leo Jasper
    Roscoe Henry
    1. My favourite girls name is Violet and my favourite boys name is Oliver.
    2. I'm not fond of Lucy because it doesn't age particularly well and only suits a child in my opinion.
    3. Classic
    Clara
    Rosaline
    Adele
    Vivian/Vivienne
    Juliet
    Eleanor
    Joseph
    Lucas
    David
    Alexander
    Edward
    James
    1. Scarlet Alice and James Alexander
    2. Its mainly classic but with small amounts of more modern names
    3. I love your naming style, and ⓗⓐⓝⓝⓐⓗ ♥'s ĸιpper ƙăňğăřŏŏ's and αṡτɾα lυχ ☆ veritas vincit's are my favourites.
    It wasn't obscenely annoying! It was fun.
  • PART ONE
    ------------------
    Girls I'd eliminate:
    Sadie ---- I think of this name more as a nickname, though it is a sweet name and I actually sort of like it.
    Audrey ---- Never really liked the sound of the name much, but again, it's not that bad.
    Lucy ---- It's a cute name but to me it doesn't really age well.
    To be honest I like all of the names and these are the three that I like the least, but I don't dislike any of them :)
    Three names to add:
    Lily/Liliana
    Juliet
    Ellen
    Boys I'd eliminate:
    Felix ---- I really don't like this name, sorry. It just doesn't seem like a nice name for a boy in my opinion.
    Dexter ---- Don't like it much either. I don't like the way it sounds.
    Roscoe ---- I've never heard this name before, but it's something about the way it sounds for me.
    Boy names I'd add:
    Ashton
    Theodore
    Jack
    For a girl my favorite name from you list is Violet. I think it's a really pretty and beautiful name for a girl. For a boy it's Jasper, and it's because I love the way the name sounds and looks like. It's a great name for a boy in my opinion.
    2. What one name from my lists do you absolutely hate, and why?
    Felix, and I really don't like the look and sound of it, no offense. I wouldn't use it, and I don't really think of it as a name. From you girl names I don't hate any actually, but I wouldn't use Lucy because as I said before I don't think it really ages well.
    3. How would you describe my naming style?
    Not modern, more classical. I'd say you have good taste, but that's just my opinion ;p
    Ashley ---I like it more on a boy :)
    Hugh
    Beauregard 'Beau'
    2. How would you describe your naming style?
    More classical, definitely, but I like some of the rather under-used names.
    3. What users in YA have the best styles?
    I really like вreaкƒaѕт aт {silver's} naming style and ṡhαḋøώḋυṡτ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ's names and נυℓιєт ♥ яσмєσ is ℓαяк αηgєℓ ♥
    PART ONE
    I'm eliminating: Ruby, Lucy, Nora, Oliver, Felix, and Roscoe.
    Replacing them with: Gemma, Ivy, Nola, Oscar, Finley, and Rocco.
    PART TWO [hoping I can use the names with which I've replaced some of yours]
    1 -- Violet, Gemma, and Rocco
    2 -- Audrey, Emmett, and Henry
    3 -- Finley, Asher, and Sadie
    4 -- Rocco, Finley, and Nola
    5 -- Asher, Emmett, and Finley
    PART THREE
    1 -- Favorites: Audrey & Asher
    2 -- I hate: Ruby & Dexter. I've never liked the way Ruby rolls off the tongue. I don't see it as elegant or feminine, but as prissy and bland. Dexter seems destined to made fun of, honestly. I hate to be brutal but it's the way I've seen it. Hasper and Asher have a cool vibe to them that Dexter lacks.
    3 -- One word: BRITISH. :]
    PART FOUR
    I suggested names above. Nola, Ivy, and Rocco I think would fit right in! Maybe also Felicity, although you'd have disregard Felix if you added Felicity. Perhaps you'd like Lucius or Cassius for boys as well.
    PART FIVE
    1 -- My favorites include Alessandra, Carolina [kair-oh-LEE-nuh], Gianna, Anthony, Dominic.
    2 -- My naming style is also one word: ITALIAN. :]
    3 -- I have a contact who has similar taste as mine. She likes Italian names and also uses family names as middles, which is really important to me.
Eliza Jane & Duncan Asher. It wasn't annoying at all. I enjoyed doing it. I loved a lot of your names. Great taste. :D
