Why does God allow earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, mudslides, and other natural disasters? Tragedies such as the 2004 tsunami in Asia, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the 2008 cyclone in Myanmar, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti cause many people to question God’s goodness. It is distressing that natural disasters are often termed “acts of God” while no “credit” is given to God for years, decades, or even centuries of peaceful weather. God created the whole universe and the laws of nature (Genesis 1:1). Most natural disasters are a result of these laws at work. Hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are the results of divergent weather patterns colliding. Earthquakes are the result of the earth’s plate structure shifting. A tsunami is caused by an underwater earthquake.

The Bible proclaims that Jesus Christ holds all of nature together (Colossians 1:16-17). Could God prevent natural disasters? Absolutely! Does God sometimes influence the weather? Yes, as we see in Deuteronomy 11:17 and James 5:17. Numbers 16:30-34 shows us that God sometimes causes natural disasters as a judgment against sin. The book of Revelation describes many events which could definitely be described as natural disasters (Revelation chapters 6, 8, and 16). Is every natural disaster a punishment from God? Absolutely not.

In much the same way that God allows evil people to commit evil acts, God allows the earth to reflect the consequences sin has had on creation. Romans 8:19-21 tells us, “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” The fall of humanity into sin had effects on everything, including the world we inhabit. Everything in creation is subject to “frustration” and “decay.” Sin is the ultimate cause of natural disasters just as it is the cause of death, disease, and suffering.

We can understand why natural disasters occur. What we do not understand is why God allows them to occur. Why did God allow the tsunami to kill over 225,000 people in Asia? Why did God allow Hurricane Katrina to destroy the homes of thousands of people? For one thing, such events shake our confidence in this life and force us to think about eternity. Churches are usually filled after disasters as people realize how tenuous their lives really are and how life can be taken away in an instant. What we do know is this: God is good! Many amazing miracles occurred during the course of natural disasters that prevented even greater loss of life. Natural disasters cause millions of people to reevaluate their priorities in life. Hundreds of millions of dollars in aid is sent to help the people who are suffering. Christian ministries have the opportunity to help, minister, counsel, pray, and lead people to saving faith in Christ! God can, and does, bring great good out of terrible tragedies (Romans 8:28).

God had a reason at the back of inflicting that earthquake, yet i do no longer think it became to break nonbelievers. yet think of approximately it. Haiti is a undesirable u . s . a . and few human beings ever went there yet as a results of fact the earthquake occurred, loads of recent missionaries have long gone to Haiti, the international has paid extra interest to how badly they want help, human beings are working extra durable to assist them, and each and all the help Haiti has gained has in all threat given them desire and reminded them that they are never on my own. God makes all issues artwork mutually for stable.

The Earth is made up of a number of layers (including the core) that radiate outwards at different depths and sizes. The surface of the Earth is the layer called the crust, and the crust is divided into many segments called plates. These plates are constantly in motion, though they move so slowly that any significant change in the plates will only be noticed after thousands of years. Every now and then the movement of one plate over another builds up energy, and it is released at the point where the plates meet, called the fault line. This release of energy is the basis for an earthquake. Energy can also be released in other ways, such as when a volcano erupts with enough force. Manmade explosions can also release enough energy to cause an earthquake if they are strong enough. Whatever the catalyst is for a major release of energy in or against the Earth's crust, it is what triggers earthquakes to occur.

NOTE: there are Christians who also have a brain. At least some of us do.

Some might say that Haiti signed a curse to the Devil along time ago, and others believe it's because we're coming to the end of times. But the real answer to this question, is that it was just because natural colors, Haiti has been sitting on this fault line for YEARS, which caused more stress, so when the fault line did shift, it shifted majorly.

its a sign of the time end time that jesus said to look for

it is only part of the sign

    mathew 24:3-9

While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU;  for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

“For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

“Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name.

    verse 14

And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Well, I belive that there is life on other planets, and I also belive that God created it all, SO if he (or she) is looking after all of the other planets, he has to leve us alone for a little while, RIGHT? So when he was helping some other planet, the plates shifted and he was not there to stop them, and then there was an earthquake.

It is end times and it is all things to come. Now a Haiti quake occurs and you are worrying. I assure you will see greater things than what happened in Haiti very soon. Hurricanes and Tsunamis are yet to come. Also volcanic eruptions and other earth quake.

Repent and get saved, so that even if the disaster affects you, you can go to heaven.

We live in a fallen world that has earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis and other disasters. God is fair and the news of Jesus Christ is all over the world and people live and die, if they accepted Jesus they will go to a better place soon.....the Kingdom of Heaven is near, repent and know Jesus as the Savior because tomorrow is not promised to you.

"How do you explain the Haiti earthquake?"

you see, the outer layer of earth is made up of plates known as "tectonic plates". when these plates move they cause a natural phenomenon called an "earthquake" and depended on how much the plate moved changes how strong the earthquake is.

I believe that since its been such a poor, unfortunate, and all in all bad area, and because nobody has ever paid any attention to these people living in such a horrible condition before, God made this happen so that people in other countries will realize that Haiti needs help and help them by sending aid and by donating money and other supplies. Also it also gave american gov the opportunity to redeem themseleves after the shortage of support and help after katrina.. lol

    wat do u think??
