It's not about helping goverment, it about the people protecting thems selve against the public and the government. lobbying is about a group effort to get something done. if you walked into a congressman's office you would probably be escorted out and told to piss off, well not that harshly. You get a million people to solicit the guy and he might listen to ya. I still don't get why people see this as a bad thing.

take Model rc airplanes for instance. really a small group in retrospect. Without lobbyist group advocating for this group the sport would be crushed into oblivion since not enough people in any area could drum up any support for their right. So they join the AMA, nationwide this turns into a group of 10 million, so they get the support they need to protect the land they need to do their hobby.

same with real planes and municipal airports. Without lobbies groups like the AOPA and the EAA 80% of the small municipal airports would have been shut down years ago with the smallest of public protests since pilots are seen as rich scum flauting their toy no one would give a ****. In reality with pilots lack of time and funds to fight for their airports they would loose them so the AOPA and the EAA fight for them.

I've attended a few state house hearings. People think lobbyist run the country but there's lobbyists on both sides of every issue so that's not true. A Lobbyist helps the government by explaining the issue for which he is an expert on. Politicians are only experts on being politicians. If there is a pending law regarding payday lending, they have no idea what's going on so it's up to a lobbyist who understands the issue to inform the committee that's voting on the bill, what the deal is.

Lobbying doesn't help the government. It helps big business continue to get away with screwing us out of our hard-earned money and not paying any taxes. If i had the power there would be laws making companies to donate excessive profit ( like the oil companies making 10 billion every three months ) to social programs and/or health-care. I'm not against free enterprise but piracy at the expense of hard-working people is criminal. Any profit over 1 billion ought to be placed in an international treasury. There is enough money in the USA alone that NO citizen of this planet need be without the basic necessities or a living wage job.

Lobbying never helps the government. It is an activity designed to help the special interest group or person doing the lobbying and to enrich the crooked politician who allows the bribe to sway the vote.

Source(s): Been around a long time and know a crook when I see one.

It doesn't. It only helps the people with enough money to hire the lobbyist.
