Did you know? ?

Do any of you atheists realize that Christianity isn't about living forever or explaining things away or not taking responsibility? It's about being good for the sake of it, i.e. helping a stranger with no reward. And don't tell me that Christians do this or say that; there are people who think they're Christians but screw it up worse than the most militant atheists.

Update:

AAAF - Yes, that's true. But again, traditional, i.e. Catholics who are not all Christians. Also, your point is irrelevant and moot (I love that word ;p)

Update 2:

PC - I can respect that. But why did you quit then? What was the bad part?

Update 3:

YIJ - Sadly that's true ^ like I said, people claim to be Christian but really aren't.

Anyone else? I really want to know what atheists think on this.

Update 4:

C - You aren't Christian; how would you know? Of course, some of my fellows sure are giving you the impression.

Update 5:

Q - That is just ignorant. I respect opinions but not hate. I'm sure I won't be alone in giving you a thumbs down. Sources: Gandhi

Update 6:

S - Yes and yes. But that is the truth

Trying to respond before I'm deleted ;p

Update 7:

K - True. I was kinda hoping for Christian responses, so thank you. You are right, but what is God but the essence of good?

Update 8:

R - LOL Avast me 'earties I spy me a best answer!

Update 9:

O - If that's all you are Christian for, quit and be a *insert religion*

Update 10:

Oh, and this questions brings my points to 666 what a coincidence.

It kind of is about living forever. Living forever with God. Helping others is important, but it is a path to God and a result of faith.

Most atheists do that without christianity.

You might want to tell these things to your fellow christians - many don't seem to realise it.

Christianity isn't about being good for the sake of it; it's about being good because God and the Bible told you to.

I thought that was being a humanist...or a good person.

Don't see many of those types of Christians around here....(where I live)

No one in this world is good for the sake of it, if not for personal gain, then for their own egotistical satisfaction.
