# How many sheets of paper size 8.5" x11" to make 1 pound?

I need to get a lot of papers shredded, and it will .99 per pound. I need to know how many 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper are in a pound. This is regular printer paper.

If you have a lot of shredding then a better way to measure is by the box. A standard sized file box holds 30 pounds.

I don't think you are getting a very good rate on your shredding if you have more than a couple of boxes. I would suggest calling around to get a better rate.

A 20 lb. ream of 8.5" x 11" regular white printer paper weighs 5 lbs. per 500 sheets.

This works out to be 1 pound per 100 sheets.

depends on the thickness.

copy and printer paper is usually "20 pounds"

that means 500 sheets weighs 5 pounds, via some convoluted US system.

so it's 100 sheets per pound

.
