Socialism : Let's put this in a mindset you may be able to understand. You study all semester long and get an A. One of your classmates gets an F because he barely shows up for class. In an ideal socialist setting we would give you both a C. An A and an F shows too much academic disparity. Lets just make you both mediocre. Does that sound fair?
Democracy: Since the majority of your class (60%) have a grade of D or lower they have all voted to impliment the socialist agenda stated above so that everyone gets a C. Since the 40% that made the A's are in the minority their voice is lost and credit for their work is distributed by force of democracy among the entire group.
Don;t you understand how dangerous Socialism is to the producers of this country. Obviously you don't understand that socialism also provides increasing power to the government and makes it very intrusive.
Taking your paycheck to pay someone else's bill is exactly what socialism is. 40% of everything you make goes to taxes (12% to social security, 6% to medicaid, 2% Unemployment, 4% state income tax, 10% income tax, sales tax -- variable). If the government can throw you in jail for not paying into something, that is a tax -- period. Government redistributes the money you earn to programs you do not benefit from for the most part.
So a social democracy is the will of the majority mob confiscating the wealth of the producers and redistributing it to the mooches.
And for your information, we do not live in a democracy in America. Fill in the blank.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the ___________ for which it stands."
Thus endeth the lesson.
