It really depends on what you're trying to study. There are plenty of other prestigious music schools in cities, but Berklee is the only school with a contemporary music focus. If you want to study just classical or jazz, there are plenty of choices- search college board or another college search engine and you'll come up with many. But if what you want is to do rock/funk/pop/r&b/world music, then Berklee is pretty much your one choice.
