why do so many people compare marine boot camp to special ops training?

every day, people ask, "which is harder, marine boot camp, or BUD/s?" seriously? you're taking entry level training and stacking it against training few people even pass? sorry for this rant.

You can blame movies like "The Marine," as well as some video games for that. While the popular opinion is that they have the hardest initial entry training, some people assume that it extends to their IET being as hard or even harder than Special Operations training. Nine times out of ten, they assume that Marines trained in Force Recon got all their training just from Boot Camp.

The hardest part of Marine Basic is the Crucible, like three days with three MREs and lots of teambuilding exercises with little sleep (think its like four hours a night maybe?). Everyone makes it through Toughest part of BUD/S? Hell week, five and a half days, four hours of sleep total MAX, straight working out at a higher intensity than anything they do in Marine boot camp. If 100 men (all of higher quality than those that go to Marine Corps boot camp) start a BUD/S class, fewer than 30 will remain when hell week is secured. See how it can't be compared? And SEALs can further their training more as part of DEVGRU, the top special operations group known to exist (equal with Delta on land, far superior when it comes to water)
