    Nepal is a multilinguistic nation. Languages belonging to Indo-Aryan, Sino-Tibetan, Austro-Asiatic and Dravidian families are found in Nepal.

    Official language of Nepal is Nepali (नेपाली) which has almost 22 million native speakers in and out side of Nepal. Nepali language is lingua-franca of Nepal and also spoken in some parts of India, Bhutan and Myanmar too. Approximately 40 million people understand and speak Nepali language.

    According to "Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 (2007)" all languages spoken inside the land of Nepal as a mother tongue are "Nepali National Languages".

    Most of Nepali languages are belong to Indo-European family evolved from Old Indo-Aryan such as Sanskrit, by way of the Middle Indo-Aryan Prakrit languages. Most of modern Nepali languages emerged by the time of 10th century.

    Nepal is a country with multilingual people. More than 20 ethnic languages are spoken over the country. But the national language is Nepali. Most of the people in city area and tourism area can speak working english, than means they can reply you.

    They speak Nepalese language but English and Hindi are also understood by common people.
