dash - 講落去之前等吓

colon - 同樣，但係你會講嘅嘢有介紹

bracket - 平常念parenthesis(多過一條:parentheses)。唔使讀嘅內容

comma - 好多用法

semicolon - period都得但係你唔想做新sentence

例如

I jumped off a building -- and got hurt. (dash)

I jumped off a building (and got hurt). (parentheses)

I jumped off a building: The hotel. (colon)

I jumped off a building. It was a long drop. (period)

I jumped off a building; it was a long drop. (semicolon)

壞:

I jumped off a building, it was a long drop. (comma)

唔好用comma接合兩個有頭有尾嘅sentence.
