Would a wireless N USB adapter work with a XBOX 360?

I don't really feel like paying 100 bucks for a specialized xbox 360 N wireless adapter. Would a regular N USB adapter work?

    No, that's not going to work.

    Here are your options:

    1. Use a wireless access point that lets you set it up as a bridge. If you have a Linksys router, you might be able to install DD-WRT firmware. You then connect it to the Ethernet port on the back of the router.

    2. Buy the Xbox 360 wireless adapter.

    3. Run a long Ethernet cable across the floor, or get a contractor to install an ethernet network through your walls and install 2 wall jacks.

    4. Go with powerline. This is the easiest solution and the best compromise to a wireless network.

    Options 1 and 2 are the most difficult to setup. The bottom 2 options are the easiest to setup.

    You can save a little bit of money by getting this: http://www.buy.com/prod/actiontec-megaplug-85mb-po...

    Make sure you watch the video. Just take one adapter and plug it near your router. Hook that adapter with a network cable to the router. Then just take a second near your computer and plug use a network cable to connect the Xbox. There is no software or setup required. To setup the security, there is a button on each device that you press and hold for 2 seconds. You must do this to both devices within 2 minutes of each other. You plug the powerline device to the Xbox's Ethernet port. The Xbox will think it's plugged directly into the router.

    No, it's not possible Xbox 360 only works with the official Microsoft Wireless Network Adapter

    Nope...either shell out 100 bucks or get nothing..however, somebody mentioned the original xbox wireless adapter works though, never thought of that..might be worth looking up

    No, the 360 wouldn't know what it was, there would be no pre-installed software of software for the Xbox 360 available to have a lynksis, belkin, d-link etc... Usb adapter to work.

    I would either;

    1- look for a wireless adapter used or cheap else where (i.e. eBay, amazon, craigslist)

    2- just use an Ethernet cable (if possible)

    3- try one of these adapters

    4- or try an Ethernet bridge / power line Ethernet adapter (which just goes through your homes power cables)

    No, Xbox has disabled it. You need the Xbox adapter along with the CD it comes with
