Why what's the point for him to kill Suzie Salmon was he jealous? Was he just a crazy guy?

First of all, READ THE BOOK. It's awesome. The movie is very PG compared to it.

The bad guy killed her because he's a psycho serial rapist/killer of young girls.

- Yes, he rapes Suzie Salmon before killing her. The movie doesn't mention this.
