Well, when has China ever been big on human rights? And even in country supporting human rights, they still manage to treat other people like crap. If you've ever been in Canada, you would see that some of the biggest grocery stores are chinese due to their low prices. And how do they manage to have such low prices? By paying their workers literally $2 an dollars for cutting fish, sweeping the crap off bathroom floors, and other delightful jobs. And they might be claiming to 'step towards democratic side,' however, the idea of violent suppression is still a good one in eyes of the chinese gov. A few months back (after the Summer Olympics) there was a strike happening, and what was the first way of dealing with it? Deploying thousands of armed forces and tanks to surround them threatening to shoot if they stop. Sorry, can't give more info. on it, I read about it in the Toronto Star, a while back.
