Are there really still people out there?
who don't believe in global warming? I thought this was common knowledge. But in a previous question I read the answers astonished me.
The finding that the climate has warmed in recent decades and that this warming is likely attributable to human influence has been endorsed by every national science academy that has issued a statement on climate change, including the science academies of all of the major industrialized countries. With the release of the revised statement by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in 2007, no remaining scientific society is known to reject the basic findings of human influence on recent climate change.
Markv, for a geologist you sure arn't very bright. The whole agrument about global warming is that mankind is excellerating its effects, and weather or not we can slow down the damage that "we" cause. I know the planet already goes through stages of warming and cooling.

I'm afraid there are. But don't quote wikipedia to them; they don't believe in it. You could try the references fromn the W. article, or
that rebuts the catalogue of zombie (dead but won't lie down) objections one by one, with real scientific data and references to publications.
and statement at
and the NSF report:
"Transitions and Tipping Points in Complex Environmental Systems"
and eg The Hot Topic, Dvd King, Prof. Cambridge (now Oxford); Global Warming 4th ed. 2009, John Houghton, Prof. AtmosphericSci., Oxford
but they'll still prefer to believe Rush and Beck and Sarah and their ilk.

Your statement that "no remaining scientific society is known to reject the basic findings of human influence on recent climate change" is somewhat misleading in that it doesn't say how much or how it is influencing climate change but only suggests or infers that the humans are the main cause of the increase in temp. in the 90's. By the way average global temps. have not really increased for about 10 years. And many, many scientists do not believe in man made global warming to be a significant problem. (see YOUTUBE- Al Gore sued by 30,000 scientists for fraud) As to how this idea got into the headlines see YOUTUBE- man made global warming hoax part 5. If you still firmly believe that there could be no other causes for recent global warming start from part 1. If you are still not convinced after watching. let me know by leaving a comment. leave a comment anyway I really am interested in how you interpret thes videos. Thank you.
EDIT: please don't thumbs down my comment. But do if you disagree with the videos. This will be helpfull. Also there is absolute proof that Wikpedia is manipulated by people who delete info and put in there own. Especially on this subject. Just be aware of this.

I'm sorry, was your best argument to really cut and paste from Wikipedia?
No, we cannot end global warming. Global warming cycles have been well documented through fossil records, sediment records, ice core records, and direct scientific observations for the past 500 or 600 years. Further, well-observed, accurate, calculated, predictable and completely natural perturbations in our orbit bring us closer to and farther from the Sun. All of these things act together to give us warm-cold-warm cycles over time-spans of millions of years, hundreds of thousands of years, tens of thousands of years, a few thousand years, a to a few centuries, and on a very small scale, even decade cycles. It's natural, it happens, and all of our records show that it's happening, and it's supposed to be happening right now. When our ancient ancestors were walking around Europe, conditions sucked. It was cold. Now we're more comfortable. This does *not* have to do with solar flares or sunspots. Those are extremely short lived events that primarily act to throw charged particles at us, particles that get deflected by the magnetosphere and EM radiation absorbed by the atmosphere. If you don't believe scientific data, just pull out a geography book or a copy of National Geographic from the early 20th Century, look at a pretty picture of where a certain glacier or ice cap was, then take a comfortable drive to see where that same glacier is now - it has retreated, because it is melting. If the climate wasn't changing, it would have been at equilibrium, either not moving, or continuing to grow. More heat = more melt. Global warming is fact.
NOW what you CAN debate is whether or not greenhouse gases are the problem. Global warming is happening much faster than we think that it should. We think that it's actually accelerating in a way that we don't think think it should. We know that those gases do what we blame them for, under laboratory conditions. But do they work the same way in nature? Can we even put out enough of these gases all by ourselves to cause the acceleration problem? Or is this perhaps also just a normal thing that acts so quickly that our reference materials couldn't pick it up? After all, observing 20 or 30 years on a serious basis is barely a blip over the geologic record.
So, can we end global warming? No. It's a force of nature, and cannot be stopped anymore than you could stop a hurricane.
Can we end greenhouse gases? Sure we can. Even if they aren't hurting the climate, doesn't it seem like a good idea to get pollutants out of the atmosphere anyway? I'm glad that we've done much to clean up our water supply, and reducing local city smog.
I'm not an environmentalist tree-hugger, I'm just a geologist trying to explain the difference between global warming and Al Gore-style greenhouse gases, can one be fixed or not, and if you want to debate it with someone, to make sure that you're debating the right thing, because one is not equal to the other.Source(s): Experienced geologist.

No need to paste wikipedia info . global warming due to increased carbon emissions into atmosphere is undeniable fact. skeptics are arguing that it is natural which is funny argument , can they tell the sources from where such high amounts carbon gases are entering the atmosphere? . people who are denying evolution are also denying global warming on yahoo answers .....so now you can understand. Because of carbon gases, gree house effect there will be global warming and centuries after that globe may cool again .....now we humans are accelerating the process of warming by pumping more and more green house gases.all myths raised by skeptics and their conspiracy theories are debunked .

I guess you found one of those people in Mr. "you may be right". I believe what you are saying, but plenty of people do not. It is sort of like the debate on evolution. You believe in it or you don't, and it seems impossible to convince someone otherwise.
I also agree with what Mark V says. He gives a thorough, reasonable explanation.

They aren't telling the truth, global warming is a natural thing, you can't stop it
