What are the best cookie recipies?

I am going to bake cookies with my family tomorrow. We are going to make sugar cookies and the chocolate press cookies with homemade frosting. Last year our frosting was Delicious but the sugar was crumbling and very doughish can i have a recipe for the sugar cookie and ur own homemade recipe of frosting???

    Don't know if these are the best sugar cookie , but they sure are good .

    Almond Half Moons

    1 1/4 c. sugar

    1 c. butter

    1 egg

    1 egg yolk

    1 1/2 tsp. almond extract

    2 1/2 c. flour

    1 tsp. b. powder

    1/2 ground almonds

    1 egg white , beaten

    sliced almonds

    Cream butter and sugar together ; add egg , yolk and extract . Add flour , b. powder and ground almonds . Divide dough in half and roll into 2 inches in diameter . Use wax paper and refrigerate over night . Slice into 1/4 inch rounds , then cut in half . Place on cookie sheets and brush with egg white ; then sprinkle with almond slices . Bake at 350 degrees for 10 min.

    Chocolate Chip Cookies :)

    Ingredients

    * 1 cup softened butter

    * 1/2 cup granulated sugar

    * 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar

    * 2 large eggs

    * 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

    * 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

    * 3/4 teaspoon salt

    * 1 teaspoon baking powder

    * 1 teaspoon baking soda

    * 18 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°.

    2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla.

    3. In another bowl, mix together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.

    4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients.

    5. Stir in chocolate chips.

    6. With your fingers, place golf ball-sized dough portions 2-inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

    7. Bake 9-10 minutes or just until edges are light brown.

    Try a different one:

    Cream cheese Cookies (Contains nuts)

    4oz softened butter

    4 oz cream cheese

    1 cup sugar

    1/2 tsp vanilla

    1/2 tsp lemon zest

    1 cup flour

    1 cup chopped walnuts

    Mix together the butter, cream cheese and sugar.

    Add vanilla and lemon zest.

    Add flour and then walnuts. Mix with a spoon.

    Form little balls on ungreased baking sheet leaving about 2 inches between each one.

    Bake at 350 for 12-15 min or until golden brown

    Molasses Crinkles

    6 dozen

    2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

    2 teaspoons baking soda

    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    3/4 teaspoon ground ginger ( I use a full teaspoon)

    1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

    1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

    1/4 tsp cayenne pepper or 1/4 tsp chipotle powder

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 cup vegetable shortening at room temperature

    1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened

    1 cup packed dark brown sugar

    1 large egg

    1/2 cup grandmas molasses (NOT black strap or barbados!)

    granulated sugar for sugaring tops of cookies

    Whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and salt in a bowl until combined.

    Beat together shortening, butter, and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes in a stand mixer (preferably fitted with paddle attachment) or 6 minutes with a handheld. Add egg and molasses, beating until combined. Reduce speed to low, then mix in flour mixture until combined.

    Put oven racks in upper and lower thirds of oven and preheat oven to 375°F.

    Roll 1 heaping teaspoon of dough into a 1-inch ball with wet hands, then dip 1 end of ball in sanding sugar. Make more cookies in same manner, arranging them, sugared side up, 2 inches apart on 2 ungreased baking sheets.

    Bake cookies, switching position of sheets halfway through baking, until undersides are golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes total, then cool on sheets 1 minute. Transfer to racks to cool completely.

    any cookie recipe will do but you can make it better by adding dried fruits and or nuts and more more chocolate chips.Try searching yeolesweets on the web.

    They have a lot of cookie choices/variations for inspiration.
