I want to buy a new laptop but I am confused about what I need.?

I dont need a lot of storage space but I do want speed. All I want to do with my new laptop is take it with me when I go camping, send emails, browse the internet and watch DVDs. How much should I expect tp pay what numbers are important and which make and modles should I consider? Thanks!!!!
