How did Mohamed Atta's passport actually survive the 911 attack?

Was this just made up by some crazy conspiracy theorist? Or was it in the commission report?

Update:

I know this is a really old issue, and I'm not trying to stir up any controversy here. But how did they find the passport completely untouched in the street when everything else was incinerated? I was just watching some ridiculous inside job videos and I'm curious. Respectful answers please.

it was planted evidence by our government. duh! haven' you heard? the U.S. was behind 9/11. how in the world could a passport escape a burning plane+building, land on the street amongst rubble and debris, endure the collapse of the tower, and emerge unscathed? too fishy, if you ask me, and waaayyyy toooo obvious. check out the Zeitgeist movement and movie on youtube and prepare to be wowed
