I knew they were in the miscellaneous group but did not know they made it into the other groups. I thought that did not happen till January, but guess not. So two new hounds and a sporting breed, awesome.

It says they will be eligible to compete on the 30th of December.

The other breeds in the miscellaneous group now

The leonberger: will join the working group in June 2010

The cane corso: will join the working group in June 2010

The Finnish Lapphund: No date yet

The Icelandic Sheepdog: will join the herding group in June 2010

The Norwegian Lundehund: No date yet

The Treeing Walker Coonhound: No date yet

    The Xoloitzcuintli: No date yet

The ones with no date yet, just joined the miscellaneous group

Breeds that will be joining the miscellaneous group soon

    Chinook- June 2010

Boerboel is considered the world's most powerful "non-agressive" dog. Mastiff breed. Dogo would be a mastiff as well. I have a Boerboel and they're IMO one of the best breeds I've ever worked with. Loyal, gentle with the family, loving, smart, a real "heart warmer", and fierce to those it would anticipate as a threat to the family. They are about the fastest XL breed I've seen. Ours is a rocket.

  • That is so odd.. I was talking about these three dogs to Chuckles yesterday..

I am VERY excited for the Boykin spaniel, one of my favorite breeds.

    Really?

    Quite interesting....

One Coton group wants the AKC to gain recognition....

The other groups absolutely don't, simply don't want the possibility of breed becoming too popular for it's own good( BYBs, puppy mills, you know the drill).

They voted on it (in the group that wants recognition).

About 127 members voted, majority ruled there.

Funny thing...many group members that would have voted no were never asked to participate...

    Anyways, off topic.

    Cool! Good for those breeds!

Wholly cow... 0.o as Certified APBT Lover (FF) said, she was just talking to me about this yesterday... That's spooky. :P

And yes, I got an e-mail from FF and she told me about this question... wow... And I think it's cool, I like Redbones.

    Yep, I heard about that.

All the breeds listed on FSS have the potential to recieve AKC recognition someday.

That's a shame. The Bluetick & Redbone are 2 of the finest coonhounds there is. I'm sure that will quickly decline now.

Yep. Yep. I read that on akc.org over the weekend when I was tracking the Agility Invitational coverage & results. All lovely breeds. Glad to welcome them.
