What does feathering mean when applying lipstick?

    Feathering happens when the lipstick runs into the creases or tiny lines around your lips. You can prevent it with a primer (chapstick, putting concealer on lips, etc) or a lip liner.

    It's when your lipstick runs into the creases of your lips. Using a lip primer and/or lip liner will help prevent that.
