Movie Music Question?
I am looking for some better less known movie music that is dark but with feeling. I think past the '40s it is hard for me to find good classical music except from the movies. This question is posed because I like the following well known pieces for example... Batman (newer) and Spider Man main themes, Shore's LOTR trilogy, Williams' Dual of the Fates, etc.. but I recently heard the Sommersby soundtrack and fell in love with "The Homecoming". I was looking for more hidden gems if you can post for me thanks guys/gals!!

Here's one; the music used in the film "Excalibur"((you may want to turn up the volume on some of these videos; a few have low recording levels)): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeOsaoY2bsc
It's "Siegfried's Funeral Music" from Richard Wagner's "Die Gotterdammerung"; utilized/replicated almost to the exact measure in the above film(this piece has been employed in the soundtracks of countless films): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f27SlOFJ55M
The next film may not be of any interest to you: it's a real "oldie", entitled "A Farewell To Arms"; but adaptations of many pieces of great classical music can be heard in its soundtrack(can only recommend that you try to disregard, waiting patiently while the mandatory commercial has run thru its 20 sec. dictated time): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9rWN4nUvBE
You will hear during its duration should you can to sit thru its 1 hr., 18 mins., etc., excerpts from the following:
This selection is not found in the above film's soundtrack; but is a very stark, and at times violent exposition of a great orchestras expressive capabilities: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-JjNJAkBZc
