    It allowed immigrants to become citizens. Before that one had to be born in the USA to be considered a citizen.

    The original intention was to make slaves citizens. It is basterdised to allow illegals to use their children to gain citizenship. It did not change the definition it gave a loophole that does not exist to allow people to break our immigration laws, come here, and stay.

    it simply laid the groundwork to replace one form of slavery with another called liberalism and welfare. Why teach a man to fish, then they won't vote to keep you in power. Better to give them a fish to keep them dependant on you.
