"The usual land tract under the Homestead Act in the United States is 160 acres or 0.25 square miles." So we can start from there: 160 ares = 0.25 square mildes. 1 acre = 1 acre (0.25 miles^2/160 acres)(5280 ft/1 mile)^2 = 43,560 ft^2
