    What type of account?

Things that don't report to your report are:

    renting furniture

getting a cell phone - although they run a credit check

    some jewlers

    getting a timeshare

Accounts can remain on your credit for up to 7 years. After that, even if they are on your report, they aren't factored into your credit score. Medical debts are never accounted for in your score.

Most accounts may never drop off your record, and some may never ever get on your report. So how old is old, I don't know.

7 years after the last activity. (not 7 years after you opened the account).
