Hey, try changing your shampoo, and not wearing it up in scrunchies too much... getting regular trims is cool and great and all, but ask your stylist to trim off the split ends, by taking small sections (1/4 inch) and twisting them and triming the hairs that poke out of that twist, this will omit those unwanted split ends over time, this also will not be taking any length off, just the split ends... by twisting the hair, only the split ends will pop out of that twist. AND if your stylist is not doing this about every other hair cut,,, then switch hairstylists. Just trimming off a bit on the ends does not get "ALL" those split ends. Make sure the hair is very very wet.
A good shampoo would be "Nucleic-a" Proteplex shampoo, followed up with a good leave-in restorer like "Fermodyl, Treatment and Shine", ( Pink 0233) put it in a squirt bottle, and shake it up, and apply to damp hair and leave it in, and style as normal, the reason it separates is because 3/4 is moisture and the rest is the restorer, which is PH balanced, so shake it up good to mix it well before each use.. You should see a difference within 7 to 10 days, and with continued use, an even huge difference within just a few short weeks.
Good Luck to you dear, great question, and something I know tons about.
Leave the color out of the picture, and let the hair rest, give it some re-couping time.
