Interpretation:

No Evidence of HER-2/neu gene amplification was observed in the cells

of paraffin-embedded tissue sections examined.Fish analysis with a HER-2

DNA Probe (Vysis,Inc) contaning DNA sequences specific to the HER-2/neu

amplification (the increase of gene copies) in this case. A probe specific

for 17pll . 1-q11.1 (CEP17) was also used as an internal control.

A total of 50 interphase cells were scored and the signals of HER-2/neu and

CEP17 near the amplification region were counted. The ratio of HER-2/neu to

CEP17 was approximately 1.3 (142/109), providing no evidence of HER-2/neu

gene amplification (Cut-off for "+" is at ≧2.0). In addition, evidence

from the internal control showing exactly tow singles in each cell

indicates that the chromosome 17 copy number is normal.The FISH test

results should be used in conjunction with classical cytogenetic analysis,

immunohistochemical assay and/or clnical information.
