Laptop and Desktop with same ip address.?
I have a personal network set up with a linksys router, and when i checked my ip address for my laptop and desktop they are both exactly the same. Some advise on this would be very helpful.

They will have the same public IP, the WAN IP assigned by your ISP to your service.
A router translates all the LAN computer's IP addresses (192.168.1.x, etc...) into the WAN IP, to allow sharing the internet by more than one computer. The router keeps track of all this stuff..
So, yes, all your computers will have the same public IP showing up on the Internet side...
All computers on your LAN side (private network) must have unique IP addresses, else they won't work properly.... That is usually set by the router's DHCP functions...

It sounds like you're using both on the Internet, which means you're probably using a router. In that case, the two will have different internal IP addresses. However, they will still both show the same IP address to other websites, and connecting to your machine outside the network uses the same external IP address.
