Why do scientists do this?

Why do they want evidence, have the Bible, deny it, and try to come up with their own evidence?

Update:

If you think about it, wouldn't you be pretty pissed if 5000 years from now, people find our history textbooks and think it's a bunch of crap?

Update 2:

And people actually saw a person make the books of today so you can't use Harry Potter and the 3 Little Pigs as an example.

Well they want evidence, hardcore proof. 2 sources is better than one, and if they find a source to be false they want to disprove it

    Scientists want evidence.

The Bible is a book, written by superstitious men in a time when little was known about the world and how it works, and contains many flaws and contradictions. It is an unreliable source of information, and so useless as far as "evidence" goes.

Some scientists are Christians, so you can't really say that all of them "deny" the Bible.

Evidence has many thousands of sources. Looking to one flawed book for all of the answers would be stupid. No one "comes up" with their own evidence. It either exists and can be tested and supported, or it doesn't.

Are Harry Potter books evidence of wizards? Only if you believe. That's the answer. Belief has no place in science.

The same reason they don't consult the Koran, the Bhavaga-Gita, or the Three Little Pigs. These books are not evidence. The Bible itself has continuously shown itself to NOT be consistent with observations in the real world.

The Bible is hardly evidence of anything but some geographical and anthropological information...

It has no other scienfic use at all..

I really hope you are trolling. As evidence, the bible is worthless. For a start, it was written before the scientific method had been defined.

The Bible isn't evidence of God any more than Harry Potter is evidence of wizards.

Saying the bible is proof of God is like saying The Lord of the Rings is proof Middle Earth exists.

Because they like to investigate claims through physical evidence rather than heresay.

Could you explain to me why you feel the Bible counts as evidence?
