I really can't say mine, though for me the bands who i think have great lyrics are Mudvayne, It Dies Today, August Burns Red, and He is Legend.

I agree, there is no one that writes lyrics like Pink Floyd. Whether it's Syd Barrett's space rock lyrics that almost sound like they were written by Lewis Carroll(Alice In Wonderland), or Roger Waters' melancholic lyrics about all the ills in the world, or David Gilmour's attempts to carry the torch after Waters left the band. How many bands can change their main song writer TWICE and still create such amazing music and lyrics? After Floyd I would pick John Lennon with such amazing songs as I Am The Walrus and Across The Universe with such a poetic and fun array of lyrics. Then there were songs like Working Class Hero and Imagine where the lyrics were so incredibly powerful. My third choice would be Bob Dylan. Powerful lyrics like those in Blowin' In The Wind and The Times They Are A-Changin'. And amazing mixes of words and phrases in songs like Highway 66 and Subterranean Homesick Blues.

My personal favorite is Morrissey when he was still with The Smiths. He wrote some of the funniest, saddest, and most inspiring lyrics.

Bob Dylan comes to mind first. He certainly didn't

become a legend just for vocal ability or guitar playing.
