I'm going to read the Bible, where do I start learning about Jesus?

I've tried reading it before, starting over at the beginning, It gets really boring in Genesis. I just want to learn about the man Jesus and what his message was. Where do I start?

I have BEEN an Athiest. I am still open minded though. We humans are not as smart as some of us think. Also, I am more interested in the message of Jesus to humanity and how we should behave.

The life of Jesus is only addressed in four books: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, also known as the gospels. They are the start of the New Testament.

The Old Testament are Jewish scriptures, and yes, Genesis can get rather repetitive. Most of the New Testament is comprised of letters written by early Christians after the death of Jesus.

There are mentions of a coming savior all throughout the Bible, but Jesus is not born until the Gospels. I would suggest reading Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (the four Gospels) and possibly the Acts of the Apostles, which come after John's gospel and are about what the Apostles did after Jesus' death and resurrection.

Start at the book of Matthew, read all of the new testament, including the acts of the apostles and epistles of paul, not revelation as that shood comeat the end. Then, go back and read the old tetament and then look for prophecies regarding the messiah and tellings of God's nature. Thats how you know Jesus.

The new testament introduces the story of Jesus' life. Start with the book of Matthew.

The old testament is just as relevant, though. It tells the story of God's relationship with his people and his promise to send a messiah to redeem them. It gives the context for Jesus' ministry on Earth.

Start with any of the Gospels, maybe Mark or John are easiest to read.

Well there are many prophecies about him in the Old Testiment. But if you want to read about his life, the Gosepls are what you should read. And Revelation tell's about his second coming.
