By Newton's third law, the normal reaction force from the wall is 12 N.
Thus, maximum possible static friction from the wall on the book = 12 x 0.6 = 7.2 N
But since the book's weight is 0.5 x 9.8 = 4.9 N, the frictional force is 4.9 N in order to keep the book stationary.
