Past Google Maps Street Views?

Google Earth already has the option to look back in time using aerial shots. But I was wondering if you could access the past versions of street view. ( I need a photo of a building that was torn down several years ago.)

The reason you can look back on Google Earth to see things the way they were a number of years ago is because either Google already has satellite images from a previous pass on the area, or maps of the area are available and have been uploaded to Google Earth.

With Street View, unfortunately this is not possible. As far as I understand there are few areas that have had a second or subsequent pass of the street view van, and even if they did, street view only began indexing photos a short time ago and most likely wasn't running when the original building was there.
