Some body cells are capable of lactic acid fermenation. What is the advantage of this pathaway?

Lactic Acid Fermentation and Alcoholic Fermentation are processes in which energy (ATP specifically) is created in the absence of oxygen. In basic biology, fermentation can create energy for the body when there is a low supply of oxygen.
At a higher level, fermentation in plants and animals allows for the creation of ATP from the pyruvates produced from glycolysis. In addition, it also recycles the NAPH byproducts seeing as the Electron Transport Chain is unable to use it. The downside of fermentation is its ineffectiveness; only producing 4 ATP per glucose molecule (2 per pyruvate).Source(s): ..

when the cell is really low on oxygen such as when you are exercising very hard, lactic acid allows your muscles to keep functioning.
this is helpful for a short burst of energy.
however it is disadvantageous in that less energy is created in comparison to the energy created by the electron transport chain. also lactic acid is poisonous to the cell and must be gotten rid of quickly.

It's an anaerobic process (doesn't require Oxygen)
