    That decision has been very insignificant ever since it was overturned by the West Virginia Brd of Educ. v. Barnette decision, which was only 3 years later. So the Gobitis decision was significant for only 3 years. During those 3 years, it was legal for public schools to punish any student for not reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
