Department of Defense numer of people?

i am doing a project on the United States Department of Defense

i need to know the number of people in the Department of Defense

Should I include all the troops in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and the National Guard?

Update:

1) I did include National Guard

2)Robert Gates is the Secretary of Defense

    You should include the militias who are in place to defend against the Tyranny that the government has put into place. The militias are in place to defend enemies both foreign and domestic, We can't count on our military alone when they have allowed over 300,000 plus troops to invade American soil. There are foreign troops on our land and they are ready to take over America and the US military is doing nothing about it!
