_____ 1. Home mortgages given to people without assets or jobs.

    E. (No Income, No Job, No Assets or NINJA loan) You're right!

_____ 2. The growth of cities is greater than the development of an industrial economy.

    N. (Overurbanization) Right again!

_____ 3. In 1980, Apple Computer went public and 64 employees (technicians, managers, janitors,

    secretaries) all became millionaires

    V. (The American Dream) Your answer S. (Multinational corporation) is close, because Apple IS a multinational corporation, but the idea that janitors and secretaries suddenly became millionaires is definitely the American Dream, and if test maker wanted you to answer Multinational Corporation, the question would have left out the jump in income idea and would probably have been worded something like "Apple, Coke, and IBM are all example of this type of corporation."

_____ 4 . Three times the cost of a year's worth of food.

Your answer Per Capita GNP doesn't really fit. The definition of per capita GNP according to http://library.thinkquest.org is

"The Gross National Product of a particular country is the total dollar value of all goods produced within that country’s border divided by the total population of the country."

"Poverty Line" fits better, although I worked in a non-profit that provided food to low income people and never heard this definition. It's the only one of the answers that fits at all, though.

_____ 5. Most poor families are headed by women.

    G. (Feminization of poverty) Your answer, "stereotype" is a good guess, but a stereotype is "a conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image," according to www.thefreedictionary.com. A stereotype is an idea that might be true about one person but then is applied to a whole group and is misleading or unfair. The idea that most poor families are headed by women is actually true and isn't unfair or misleading to women or poor families.

_____ 6. Court case that stated that de jure segregation in schools was not unconstitutional.

    A. Plessy V. Ferguson (Right On!)

_____ 7. The 3% of U.S. population who have fallen below the social class system

    M. Underclass. Your answer O. The poverty line is close in idea, but the poverty line is number representing yearly income not a group of people. The poverty line in the U.S. right now (according to the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services at http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/08Poverty.shtml) is $10,400 for 1 person and $21,200 for a family of 4)

_____ 8. The sisal, cotton, peanuts, cocoa and rubber grown in Africa.

    Y. Cash crops. (Right again)
