I am not so sure that it stands only for hate. A good case can be made for Confederates preserving their way of life, independent of the slavery issue. Slavery wasn't about hate; not only were there lots of free blacks in the South, but slavery was about wealth.
During the years I lived in Florida, I saw it displayed several times with the motto "Heritage, not hate".
If we ban the display of the Stars and Bars, we are going against the ideals of the United States...freedom of speech, freedom of choice, and freedom of conscience. Censorship is NEVER an American ideal.
If we ban the display of that flag, then for what have our many wars been fought?
Before the thumbs down fairy alights here, please note that I am a New Yorker by birth, I am a pro-Obama liberal, I am a Navy veteran, and, as a nurse, I must provide care to people of all races and religions every shift that I work.
