    The official languages are Arabic and Kurdish, but there are tons of regional dialects and other Middle-Eastern languages spoken in the country. Arabic originates from a combination of ancient Semitic languages spoken thousands of years ago and various dialects that have developed/been assimilated over the past 3000 years.

    Almost every country in the Middle East uses Arabic in some amount, although it's not necessarily the official language.
