what is the importance of the polio vaccine?
I just need a little help getting my essay started. I've searched a lot of things, but can't seem to find good reasons as to why it was an important event in American history.

Polio was a common infectious illness in the 19th and early 20th Century
It caused a great deal of suffering.
The importance of the vaccine is that it changed this completely. In most developed countries polio no longer exists because the majority of the population in immunised and therefore can get infected.
