A Song For Your Ears?

"Eid Ma Clack Shaw"

Bill Callahan

Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle

what do you think of this song?

Love? Hate? Indifference?

Somewhere in between?

Bill Callahan used to be Smog (and also (Smog)), an influential artist in lo-fi, independent production, but under his given name, he seems unburdened by his past, releasing lighter, looser, and more autobiographical work in the last 3 years, though he remains very distant and obtuse, and pretty divisive.

If you're a female sing/songwriter, you may want to consider giving him a call sometime.... both Joanna Newsome and Chan Marshall (Cat Power) released albums that were artistic breakthroughs while dating Bill.

Listen. Comment. Enjoy.

Song 178 in a series.

One would think that Smog would have been very appealing to my music sensibilities but one would be wrong. I never got into Smog so I always ignored Bill Callahan. I really liked this song so I'll reconsider his work. David Berman sounds very similar to him.

Do you think that just the sound of Bill Callahan's voice in my lady ears could have the same muse-gasmic results as dating him?
