Who was the Father of Henry S. Dawkins, born ca 1801 NC?

Henry S. Left NC for Henry Co, TN between 1832 and 1840. He then went to Carroll Co, MS by 1844. He was in Drew Co, AR in 1850 and I have no data on him since.

September, 2001--"Extensive research has resulted in very little information on the early Dawkins' in or around Yalobusha CO, MS. Acording to a note, in an old Ledger, written by my grandfather, Thomas Hosea Dawkins, my ggggrandfather was Henry Dawkins. His birth, death and wife's name are unknown at this time. My great great grandparents were Henry S and Elizabeth (Ely) Dawkins. They came to Mississippi from Rockingham District, Richmond County, North Carolina. Traveling through TN arriving in MS sometime around 1840. Henry moved his family to Drew County, AR between 1848 and 1850.

A deed of trust is on file in Rockingham, Richmond, North Carolina from Henry Dawkins to William Powell and Resdon Nickols, dated April 1832... First record of Henry is the 1830 census of Rockingham District, Richmond County, North Carolina. He was married at this time and had one male and one female 0-5years of age and was listed on the same page as hisfather-in-law, Samuel Ely.")

    Rank at enlistment: Private

Service Record: Enlisted in Company H, Mississippi 33rd Infantry Regiment (Muster date--or date when unit formed--9 April 1865. The unit had 1,374 troops serving the Confederacy.)

This listing on ancestry.com--Ashford/Reece Family Tree--shows:

    Name: Henry S Dawkins

Birth: 1801 - North Carolina, USA

    Parents: Henry Daykin, Alice Broughton

    Spouse: Elizabeth Ely

(MY NOTE: Rootsweb shows the parents listed here and the son Henry DAYKIN being Baptized: 20 JUN 1783; and marrying Sarah Simpson in 1808. Had he been DAWKINS, he'd only have been 7 years old. Children for Henry /Sarah were shown as Henry Daykin ;James Daykin ; Jane Daykin ; *Henry Dawkins 1844 – 1929.

(I could see maybe age 17 in 1818, however)

*Henry DAWKINS, b. 1844, was listed as a son with Henry S. & Elizabeth (Ely) Dawkins as parents.

IF he was in the Civil War--at age 64/65, I kind of doubt it--he could have been killed in action. I didn't see any listings for him in the 1870 census.
