Barack Obama is the fourth president to win the Nobel Peace Prize behind Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Jimmy Carter.

The Nobel Prize in the catagory Obama won, has always been a catagory used as Europes political megaphone and very little to do with "actual" acomplishments.

The reason Obama won this award is really threefold. First, Europe in general had a great dislike for the strong arming of Pres. Bush, so this was a subtal way of Europe "sticking it to Bush". The second reason, Europe likes Obama's Europeanized message, Obama is doing his best to make the strongest, most independent, and powerful nation on earth into another docial and casterated European state both in international and national politics.

Finally, Europe is hoping that by throughing there hat in with Obama they will see a continued American movement to elect Euopeanish Presidents that will continue to errode America's mega power standing in the world. American strength and independence is rather intimidating to them.

Reason for my point of view. Oboma didn't accomplish much of anything either locally or nationally of any real sugnificance before his election as President. The European Nobel counsil selected this internationally unknown and empty resume person only 14 days into his Presidency.

With a stiff upper lip, are they to have us believe that a blank resume person elected as president of the USA for a total of 14 days was the "most" accomplished and worthy person they coud find to give such an award to? I think the Eurpean intelegensia accross the pond should appologize to the world for such an insult to intelligence of the international community.

Yes, there is an obvious connection. All of them not only spearheaded real efforts to attain world peace but actually proposed and initiated policies to greatly improve their own society.

It's truly sad, and says a lot, that the past Presidents aren't always serious contenders for such an honor. The leader of the United States and most influential person in the world should continually be at the forefront of any attempt to resolve world matters. President Obama, like those you mentioned, is finally helping to raise the status of America back to where it was when we actually had true leadership.

The world wanted to nominate Rev. Wright. Obama was the closest they could get to him.
